sophie offers one story a month, a complete
moon phase. if we could slow down to one story a year, in twenty-nine
years we would have a complete moon return, but given our limitations, the
moon return can remain as part of our personal stories: what was your life
like when you were twenty-eight or thirty? fifty-seven or sixty? (of
course this rhythm also marks our saturn return, and so we are not only
resonating with the moon and with saturn, but they are resonating with
each other.) at thirty or so i was asking the questions posed in waiting
for sophie�and waiting for the birth of my children. at fifty-nine, i
was in the last year of my 18-year television series, the
blue rainbow.
